Revitalizing fireplaces in museum in progress! (english version)

Revitalizing fireplaces in museum in progress!русская версия

"Revitalizing" fireplaces is in the progress; the next stage of the project on installing Opti-Myst electric fireplaces in the Third antechamber of the Catherine Palace at Tsarskoye Selo has been completed.

The Third antechamber (from Italian “anticamera” meaning “entryway”, “entrance hall”), as well as the First and Second antechambers, were intended for the guests waiting for the reception at Tsarskoye Selo in the 18th century.

Two out of four marble fireplaces installed in the antechamber are now working! As in previous cases, for reviving the fireplaces the modernized versions of Juneau Dimplex electric hearths were used. Placed into fireplace baskets specifically made for them, electric fireplaces perfectly cope with the demanding challenge of creating the effect of functioning fireplaces. And this problem is not as simple as it may seem at first glance. Indeed, in addition to realistic flame effect, it is necessary to ensure full security of museum interiors. Moreover, both size- and style-wise, fireplace baskets and electric fireplaces must comply with marble fireplaces in which they are installed.

To date, the Catherine Palace is the only museum in the world where one of the halls has two authentic fireplaces functioning! Even though flames there are not real, the technology of simulating flame that could compete with the authentic flame effect provided by an innovative design of Glen Dimplex engineers - innovative Opti-Myst flame effect technology – is yet to be invented.

You may assess the results of the work performed to revitalize the fireplaces in the Catherine Palace yourself: halls with Dimplex Opti-Myst fireplaces are already open to visitors!
